Editorial policy
Editorial and fact-checking policy
Every release is reviewed by a named editor before it is distributed. Here is exactly what that review covers.
Last updated
Review process
- Confirm the sender is authorised to speak for the named organisation.
- Check the headline, dateline, lead paragraph, quotes and boilerplate for structure and accuracy.
- Require a verifiable source for any statistic, superlative or financial claim.
- Flag unsupported medical, legal, safety or investment claims for revision or removal.
What we will not distribute
Content that is unlawful, defamatory, deceptive, plagiarised, hateful, or that promises guaranteed financial returns. We also decline releases written primarily to manipulate search rankings.
Corrections
Corrections are appended to the original release page with a dated note, and the dateModified value in the structured data is updated. We never silently edit a published release.
Withdrawals
Where a release must be removed, the URL returns HTTP 410, syndication partners are notified, and the newsroom index is regenerated.
Independence and disclosure
Editorial review is not for sale. Paying more for a wider circuit does not change the review standard. Report an editorial concern to scary@booboonews.com.
